The New Gods – Apokolips
Originally
one planet, the origins of New Genesis and Apokolips can be traced to the deaths
of the “Old Gods,” after which an indescribable burst of energy split the
planet into two molten bodies. These
bodies cooled and brought forth new life—and new gods—which developed into
two worlds that exist as the antithesis of the other.
Darkseid
See Darkseid entry.
Desaad
Real Name: Desaad
Darkseid’s right hand and chief torturer, the sadistic Desaad was once his friend as well. That friendship ended, however, when Desaad poisoned Suli, Darkseid’s beloved wife. Frequently obliterated by his Omega Beams, Darkseid keeps restoring Desaad to life in order to take advantage of his technological and tactical knowledge.
It is worth noting that, while Rene Auberjonois replaces Robert Morse (who voiced Desaad in the Superman episode Father's Day), he is also reprising the role that he originally played on Superfriends.
Kalibak
Real Name: Kalibak
The son of Darkseid and Suli, Kalibak longs for the approval of his father. This desire has led to an ongoing rivalry with his half-brother Orion. He is nearly equal to Orion in terms of strength and fighting ability.
Steppenwolf
Real Name: Steppenwolf
Appointed to the position of general by his nephew Darksied, Steppenwolf leads the military forces of Apokolips during their bloody campaigns.

Commentary
I am many things, Kal-El, but here I am God.
Darkseid (to Superman) in Legacy
The return of Darkseid necessitates the presence of his main agents as well. They are pretty much as they were in Superman, with minor exceptions (Rene Auberjonois replacing Robert Morse as the voice of Desaad, Corey Burton filling in for Sherman Howard as the voice of Steppenwolf). Finally, those concerned about the fates of Desaad and Steppenwolf can rest easy: Darkseid can always resurrect them with his Omega Beams should he need them again.
