Summary: Superman and the Huntress succeed in liberating the Question from Cadmus, but not without inflicting serious harm to Captain Atom in the process. Enraged, Superman is ready to declare war on Cadmus, but the decision is taken out of his hands when the Watchtower's binary fusion generator is secretly remote-activated by Luthor, destroying the Cadmus compound and causing incredible amounts of damage to the surrounding area. The Flash leads a team to provide disaster relief, but the White House has questions, and the members of Cadmus—who survived the attack because they moved their facilities following the break-in, plan their counterattack by activating Galatea and an army of Ultimen.

Cartoon Network on “Flashpoint”: “To avenge a fallen teammate, Superman declares war on Cadmus (courtesy of The World’s Finest).”
Dwayne McDuffie on “Flashpoint”: “[Captain Atom] was told to stop Superman from illegally taking a prisoner out of Cadmus custody. There’s no reason to think he was aware of the torture, as he wasn’t Question’s guard. He did know that Superman and Huntress had broken into a government facility, rather than go through proper channels to secure Question’s release. Captain Atom did the right thing, based on the information he had (courtesy of Television Without Pity).”
